With reduction in episiotomy rates as a goal, a combination of guideline education, feedback, peer coaching and collaborative care with doctors may be needed to achieve desired outcomes. Views and experiences of midwives should also be incorporated into strategies to change episiotomy practice.

Patients do not bear responsibility for the quality of health care processes, but their knowledge may be very valuable for structural improvement of these processes and could be valued as such. Clinical interventions that stimulate these patients to speak up, accompanied by health care staff’s reflections on how to respond to patients speaking up, must therefore be explored.

Les deux variables ont un effet indépendant dans un modèle multivarié. Pas d’association trouvé avec le statut social, le pays de naissance, la santé ou d’autres maltraitances.

Suède, 530 patientes d’une clinique pour femmes. 63% ont fait l’expérience au moins une fois dans leur vie de violations de principes éthiques de la part des soignants. La plupart ont eu conscience qu’il s’agissait de violations, mais 70% ont ensuite gardé le silence vis-à-vis du système de soins.
