Dans l’étude des facteurs de risques de traumatismes musculaires périnéaux en lien avec les dysfonctions périnéales (prolapsus, incontinence anale et urinaire), le forceps est évalué comme étant le premier à avoir des effets délétères selon 4 études retenues.
La dernière étude pointe la durée de la seconde phase du travail (supérieur à 110 min) et le périmètre crânien (supérieur à 35.5 cm).
