Résumé (français) : | Des 741 femmes s’étant présentées à un obstétricien ou une sage-femme "autodidacte" (lay midwife) (appeared for orientation by an obstetrician/lay midwife), 521 ont été accouchées par eux. Sur les 258 primipares, 191 ont accouché à domicile tel que planifié, 24 ont été transférées en cours de travail vers un hôpital, 42 ont eu un accouchement plannifié à l’hôpital. .. Parmi les multipares, 233 ont accouché à domicile, 2 ont été transférées après la naissance et 3 durant le travail. La naissance avait été planifiée à l’hôpital par 25 multipares. Le taux de césarienne a été de 6.1 %. Il y a eu 4 naissances prématurées (toutes à l’hôpital et toutes avec de bons résultats), 6 malformations mineures, et 3 cas d’infection postpartum. Les 3 décès périnataux incluaient un décès in utéro à 34 semaines, un mort-né présenté en siège (double footling breech : les deux pieds devant) avec procidence du cordon, et un enfant réanimé à domicile mais décédé après 2 semaines de soins intensifs. |
Abstract (English) : | ABSTRACT: Of 741 women who appeared for orientation by an obstetrician/lay midwife, 521 were delivered by them. Of 258 primiparae, 191 had planned home births while 24 were transported to the hospital during labor, and 42 had planned hospital births. Of the multiparae, 233 delivered at home; 2 were transported to the hospital after birth and 3 during labor. Hospital births were planned by 25 multiparae. The cesarean rate was 6.1 per cent. There were 4 premature births (all in hospital and all with normal outcomes), 6 minor malformations, and 3 postpartum infections. The 3 perinatal deaths included a prepartum death at 34 weeks, a stillborn double footling breech with a prolapsed cord, and an infant who was resuscitated at home but died after two weeks of intensive care. |
