Le risque de contamination iatrogène à la suite d’un geste obstétrical est connu depuis de nombreuses années, qu’il s’agisse d’une contamination directe par introduction d’un germe dans la cavité amniotique, d’un passage d’hématies maternelles dans la circulation foetale, ou d’une contamination indirecte par voie ascendante à point de départ vaginal ou cervical. Mais le risque de contamination par les virus, notamment le virus de l’immunodéficience humaine (VIH), a donné une acuité toute particulière à ce problème.
