Résumé (français) :	La France est un drôle de pays qui pratique avec autant d’aisance le complexe de supériorité que celui d’infériorité. Peut-on chez nous aborder un problème grave autrement que par une brutale bouffée de fièvre médiatique démotivante, délétère et sans fondement scientifique ? La mortalité maternelle est un des révélateurs de la qualité d’un système de soins. Il est très complexe pour un grand pays de se doter d’une vraie capacité d’évaluation de ce précieux marqueur en temps réel. Nous ne sommes pas les seuls à en faire la difficile expérience. Les résultats des enquêtes sont donc à méditer, à expliquer […], mais certainement pas à manipuler. Les journalistes peuvent-ils tout comprendre ? Les obstétriciens savent-ils se faire entendre ?

Argument (français) :	La mortalité maternelle est un des révélateurs de la qualité d’un système de soins. Il est très complexe pour un grand pays de se doter d’une vraie capacité d’évaluation de ce précieux marqueur en temps réel.
