Abstract (English) : | Historical, incid of Cesarean Section has inc from 1:20 in 1970 to 1:4. Elective repeat Cesarean Section has been a major contributor to that inc. Even in a modern OB unit, rupture is assoc with significant maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity including transfusion and hysterectomy. 10 year review at Coombe hospital in Dublin, 65,488 deliveries, 15 cases or uterine rupture. 13 of 15 ruptures occurred in multigravidas with previous Cesarean Section. 10 of 15 HAD LABOR INDUCED AND 13 PTS. RECEIVED PITOCIN. In contrast, Pitocin enhancement of spon labor is rarely assoc. with rupture. |
