Abstract (English) : | LAC-USC CS rate peaked at 25% and is now in modest decline. Target rate is 15% by 2000 with 13% primary and 3% repeat. Major indications for CS are prev. CS-8%, dystocia-7%, breech-4%, and fetal distress 2-3%. The major areas of reduction must occur in the PCS and dystocia. An expanded TOL and VBAC will produce further reductions (Europe has a 50% VBAC rate versus 25% in US) Even if a 50% VBAC rate occurs, the national goals are unachievable. |
