Abstract (English) : | Induction of labour is a controversial intervention and obstetricians, not infrequently, find themselves under pressure from patients to either defer induction of labour when a medical indication exists, or to induce labour inappropriately. |

Argument (English): | It is important that obstetricians are strict with both patients and themselves when considering induction of labour for ’soft’ indications if the risks of failed induction and caesarean section for dysfunctional labour are to be avoided. |
