Abstract (English)  :

This thesis aims to establish the complexity of the therapeutic relationship between the nurse and the couple in the delivery room. Knowing that the therapeutic relationship is essential to the success of the care process, its conceptualization remains essential for a better understanding of its impact and to carry out the care. This ethnographic research wanted to document the relationships of nurses with couples in the delivery room at a hospital on the Island of Montreal. This thesis addresses a central theme of anthropology: human relations. The key question in this memoir is to question the factors that hinder and promote the therapeutic relationship between the nurse and the couple in the delivery room. This research demonstrates theoretical shortcomings that technicalize the therapeutic relationship and indicates that the notion of risk, institutional norms, the hegemony of obstetric knowledge and medical power are factors that seem to have a great influence in the therapeutic relationship.
