Résumé (français) : | discussion autour de la hausse toujours croissante de césariennes aux USA face à la perte de pratique du forceps. Les risques connus de la césarienne sont à confronter aux risques incertains et à relativisier d’incontinence lié à l’accouchement par voie basse. Vu les risques associés à une grossesse consécutive à une césarienne (placenta praevia et mortalité intra utérine) et les risques d’échecs de la ventouse, le forceps s’avère nécessaire dans l’apprentissage des étudiants qui ont attesté de lacunes dans leur formation (cf. fiche 2907). |
Abstract (English) : | We have a duty to women to train obstetricians skilled in the art of operative vaginal delivery to help staunch the increasing trend toward cesarean delivery for all but the most straightforward vaginal deliveries. |
