Abstract (English) : | Stress-response syndromes have been reported after childbirth as well as after other obstetric and gynaecological procedures. In a study of 24 women after emergency cesarean section, no complete posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) according to DSM III-R could be diagnosed. However, one third of the women suffered from serious posttraumatic intrusive stress reactions (PTISR), fulfilling criteria A and B of PTSD. These women had experienced the delivery as traumatic, and were disturbed by intrusive thoughts, images and memories. … |
