Argument (français) : | Revue de la littérature (Cochrane) qui comparent la position couchée sur le dos à toute autre position pendant le second stade du travail. Les positions verticales ou latérales sont associées à (1)réduction de la durée du second stade du travail (2) faible réduction des accouchement assistés (3) réduction des épisiotomies (4) augmentation plus faible des déchirures périnéales du second degré (5) Augmentation des risques de perte de sang > 500 ml (6)Réduction des douleurs sévères pendant le second stade du travail (7) réduction des rythmes cardiaques foetaux anormaux. Conclusion : les femmes devraient être incitées à accoucher dans la position qui leur paraît la plus confortable. (Revue systématique de la base de données Cochrane connue sous le nom "Nikodem").
