Abstract (English) : | Medline, Cochran and Health STAR search, 568 full text articles, identifying 78 potential eligible studies, 21 rated at least fair in quality. Found that trial of labor increased risk of uterine rupture 2.7/1000 cases. For attempting trial of labor, the additional risk of perinatal death from uterine rupture was 1.4/10,000 and additional risk of hysterectomy was 3.4/10,000.<br>Conclusion: Although the literature on uterine rupture is imprecise and inconsistent, existing studies indicate that 370 (213 to 1370) elective cesarean sections would need to be performed to prevent one symptomatic uterine rupture. |
